St. Augustine is a city with a rich art culture. We have art galleries on almost every street downtown. Artists hold art classes, and can be seen creating art outside during the year or during one of the several "paint-outs" that happen throughout the St. Augustine area. We have two art walks during the month, where our artists are featured in local art galleries, and locals view new art pieces throughout the city. Vibrant is the word to describe the St. Augustine art community.
St. Augustine is also home to talented writers. Our writers are from all disciplines -- book and screenplay authors, news writers, journalists, as well as creative writers focusing on poetry, books, and childrens' books. The St. Augustine Pen Women group boasts several of the most prominent writers in the St. Augustine area who are members.
We also have wonderful musicians and composers. One of the four musicians at our Pen Women branch has won many awards, and our branch does outreach programs by providing musical events at the Council on Aging.
